I watched this review and went to see it that night. As soon as I left the theatre I knew exactly the feeling you were talking about.
I think maybe I really liked it. Baraka meets... I don't know... Some movie about a family.
Should you convene a panel discussion, I would be more than prepared to wear the hat of dubious contrarian.
